Create a Contract

Create a new contract from scratch, a template, or a proposal.

Create a new contract from scratch, from a reusable template, or directly from an accepted proposal.

From a Template

  1. Go to "Contracts" in the sidebar (/dashboard/contracts).
  2. Click "New Contract".
  3. Select a client (required).
  4. Optionally select a project and link an accepted proposal.
  5. Choose a template from the starter or custom template list.
  6. The contract is created as a draft with the template content pre-filled.
  7. Edit the content in the contract editor, then send for signing.

From a Proposal

  1. Open an accepted proposal.
  2. Click "Create Contract" in the proposal actions.
  3. The contract is created with the proposal's line items embedded as a read-only "Schedule A" reference.
  4. Edit any additional clauses, then send for signing.

Blank Contract

  1. Go to "Contracts" > "New Contract".
  2. Select a client.
  3. Click "Blank Contract" to start with a basic structure (intro, signatures, amendments clause).
  4. Use the contract editor to add clauses, merge fields, and signature blocks.

From an Uploaded PDF

  1. Go to "Contracts" > "New Contract".
  2. Select a client.
  3. Under "Upload Existing Contract", select a PDF file.
  4. The contract is created with content type "PDF".
  5. On the edit page, use the embedded template editor to place signature fields on the PDF.
  6. Send for signing as usual.
